La actual raza es la cruza deliberada de ambas, los historiadores dan el credito de ellos a Sr. William Fullerton, de Argovie, y su primera vaca de nombre Black Meg en 1879. The Aberdeen-AnGus Cattle Society, entidad que reúne a los criadores de la raza en Gran Bretaña y conocida originalmente como Polled Cattle Society, fue fundada en el mismo año. Actualmente se le conoce en todo el mundo como Angus.
